Is it worth migrating from monolith to microservices for a medium sized app?

Our application is currently a monolithic architecture. We have about 50k monthly active users. Some of our developers are pushing to migrate to microservices for better scalability, but I am worried about the added complexity.

At what point does the switch actually make sense?

This heavily depends on your feature set, but for a solid React/Node.js MVP, I would budget between $25k and $40k. Anything lower might compromise on quality or use cheap templates that will be hard to scale later.

If they are joining pre-product and taking equal risk (e.g. no salary), it should be close to 50/50. If you already have funding and can pay them a salary, it could be anywhere from 10% to 30%.
