If they are joining pre-product and taking equal risk (e.g. no salary), it should be close to 50/50. If you already have funding and can pay them a salary, it could be anywhere from 10% to 30%.

However, once funding is secured and salaries are on the table, it makes sense for equity percentages to adjust accordingly.
